Camp Ohiyesa

The tradition of Girl Scout camping continues for a third year.  This year we tried out a new camp.  The girls sang around the campfire and roasted s'mores, canoed, braved a giant swing, learned about ecology in the forest, earned their Global Action badge, and cared for some farm animals.  I love experiencing camp with my Allie girl but NEVER sleep well on the first night.  We come home exhausted, but with our hearts full.

Allie's First Holy Communion

Allie's first holy communion was small, quaint and lovely.  She was as beautiful as ever in her white dress.  Aunt Kat took her shopping and Allie picked out the pouffiest dress she could find!  She wore a crown of flowers and veil from Nana.  Around her neck hung her silver cross from her baptism.  In her ears were new diamond hoop earring she's been asking to own (just like mine).  She carried Nana's rosary and Auntie Ellen's purse from their first holy communions.  She was a beauty.

Uncle Mark & Aunt Kat....Godparents

Leading up to Allie's first communion, she painted a special goblet in class.  Her and I made her pew sign in white and pink to hang at the end of her pew row.  Allie and her communion crew sang a song at the end of mass.

We all celebrated after mass with some pasta and a simple, but beautiful, pink rose-topped cake (buttercream frosting and white cake...Allie's choices).

God Bless my little girl and may Jesus forever be a part of your life, your decisions, and your future.

Cookie Celebration

765 boxes of Girl Scout cookies sold by my little brownie.  Allie's goal was only 600.  When she reached it and cookie season wasn't over, she then changed it to 750.  The party bus to the cookie celebration definitely played a part in her motivation.

What a fun way to celebrate my 40th birthday...on a PARTY BUS!  I was surrounded by some of my favorite people (big and small).  The girls had a BLAST singing and dancing...and celebrating with Dairy Queen ice cream on the ride home.  All the girls sat at their own table at the cookie dinner and were recognized for their efforts and accomplishments with a trophy.

Some of Allie's favorite cookie rewards were her sleeping bag and umbrella.  She always loves her new stuffy and charm to add to her growing Girl Scout charm bracelet.  Allie's biggest achievements are worn on vest as patches and badges to remind her of the journeys she took this scout year.

Lego League

The BLAST OFF BROWNIES were transported to the moon this season. Over the course of 12 meetings...Briella, Julia and Allie designed and built a Lego moon base to show how they would survive on the moon using energy, air, water and food.  Their model showed how they got water from digging in the craters of the moon, made their own air from growing plants in their moon garden, produced food from their moon chicken coop, and collected energy from the sun in their solar panels.  Their model had to two moving parts...a water digger and pull-bot to move the rockets resources.  During their journey, these three ladies learned about 4 important women who worked for NASA by researching in books, watching movies and even visiting the Houston Space Center!

These ladies decided that they too would like to work for NASA one day...but they do not want to fly in the rockets!  So many goals and so many dreams.  I'm sure they will grow into them.  Congratulations for winning TWO awards!
