Memorial Day

This Memorial Day...Allie decorated bags (one for her and one for Ayden)...

...to take to the parade...

...to catch all the candy that was tossed our way.

But what we really want to say this Memorial Day...is thank you to all the men and women that fight for our country and help keep our two little patriots safe here on American soil.  We are forever grateful.  God Bless.

Allie's 4th Baptism Birthday

LOOK who popped in to say "Happy Baptism Birthday" bright and early this morning!  Allie's little elf, Belle, from the North Pole...all dressed up in her birthday party suit!  Allie was so surprised to find her just hanging out in our kitchen.  She brought along a letter and a special Baptism Birthday gift for Allie (starter pierce-free earrings).  How cool!  Allie could hardly wait to put them on.

After school, we sang our traditional Happy Baptism Birthday song around the table all decorated with Allie's christening things.  She blew out her candle (three times...of course) and we celebrated with cupcakes.

Ayden LOVED the cupcakes...pretty much more than anyone!

No birthday is complete without a little gift.  Another vintage pony (or two) and some matching pony outfits to add to our collection.  Allie was beyond thrilled to now have Meagan and sister, Molly...with their ponies, Sundance and baby Sundance.

Allie, God welcomed you as one of his children 4 years ago, and he is so proud of you for all the good things he has noticed you doing lately.  Keep up those random acts of kindness.  God, your family and friends notice your caring and loving ways.  You have a good heart and are a great role model.  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!

Scientist Allie

Allie participated in her very first science fair this evening at school. When the assignment was given, Allie and I perused around on the internet searching for an interesting topic to experiment with. We came across colorful cabbage leaves and celery and thought it was intriguing. So we went with it?

Allie's question was: HOW DO PLANTS DRINK WATER?

Allie set up her materials (and took a photo). She did the pouring and added the food coloring herself. Then she put a cabbage leaf in each cup (and took another photo).

We waited...and whaa-laaa!  The cabbage leaves drank the colored water, all the way up to top of its leaves!  (And Allie took another photo).

I printed out templates for Allie to write and draw in to show each step of her experiment.  She painted and pasted her board together!  Looks great, huh?!?!!

Allie was a bit shy when it came time to tell about her experiment infront of all her classmates and parents. She practiced at school for a couple days to prepare. I got her started by telling her name and then asking her questions about what we did and she answered the questions to tell everyone all about her experiment.

This kid deserves an A+!!!

Ayden is 20 Months

Ayden has seemed to have grown up this past month.  He communicates and understands so well now, although he struggles to always listen.  When Ayden is unhappy about his boundaries, he will often throw himself on the floor and cry.  Ayden LOVES to play with brooms and vacuums.  He sometimes will make a mess just so he can run to get the broom to sweep it up.  Ayden likes to play with the dishes in the dishwasher and all the small appliances in the kitchen cabinet.  Now that the weather is warm, Ayden wants to go outside all the time.  He spends his time pushing his shopping cart down the sidewalk or riding in his red car.  Ayden really likes dogs and will giggle, point and say "dog" when he sees one.  Ayden likes to eat salami, raspberries, ice cream cones, and frozen peas...when he's not throwing it all on the floor.

Mother's Day 2015

My sweet mother's day weekend with my two littles.  We went to Lowes and Allie and I built a Mother's Day planter. Ayden sat in the cart with his pack of fruit snacks while Allie and hammered as fast as possible.

Mother's Day morning we headed to Dunkin for a chocolate doughnut and a yummy coffee for me.

Then to Home Depot to pick out flowers for our flower pots.

Thanks Nana for coming over and hang'n with us today. Happy Momma's Day!

Birthday Bummer

This year's birthday was a bit of a bummer.  Todd is in Virginia.  Papa Ray is up north visiting Uncle Monte.  Nana and Papa are in Canada for the night.  And our friends are in Chicago.  Boo.  So we celebrated me turning 22 (again) at Dairy Queen.  Ice cream for dinner.  No one objected.

May Day

I can't believe it's May already...but, I'm so extremely glad that the SPRING weather is finally here!!!  It's starting to look and feel much more like spring!

Yesterday after school, Allie and I made some yummy spring flowers to hang on some of our neighbors' door knobs today.  There's no better way to celebrate the month of May and the spring weather!  It was a bit of a challenge to make our baskets as Ayden insisted on sitting with us and helping in his own way by throwing everything he could get his little fingers on onto the floor.  He just HAD to be a part of the project!

Allie was so excited today to hang our little baskets on our neighbors' doors...ring the bell and run away! Ayden blew our cover a couple times with his little loud mouth.  He was a chatterbox as we walked up to everyone's door.  But...it's the thought that counts and my Allie got to GIVE this May Day!  We hope everyone's May is a little more cheerful, sunny...and sweet too.
