Berry Picking

This weekend we tried to soak up every last bit of our summer...school starts in TWO DAYS!  So, we headed to Spicer's Farm for a berry good berry picking time.  Allie was very into it as she made sure to only pick the ripe ones.  It took a LONG time to pick blueberries...but it was a FUN FIRST!  Ayden did more eating than picking...he loves blueberries and raspberries.  When it was time was cash our berries out, our total was a whole dollar!  Those were some cheap blueberries.  We should have done this early in the summer, and much more often!  Bye, bye warm days of summer...we'll miss you so.

Look Who's Walking

When did this happen?  Ayden is starting to toddle around taking 3-4 steps at a time...until he crash lands on his hands and knees.  I'm not ready for this!

First Day of Preschool

Allie was up at the crack of dawn on the first day of school.  I'm guessing it was nerves that woke her up early...5:00 am to be exact.  I was getting up anyways and I guess overall I'm thankful to spend my last few minutes of summer with the cutest preschooler around.

Allie was fine all morning.  She was super excited to wear her new uniform to school.  She was very cooperative and smiled perfectly for her "first day of preschool" photo. She even jumped right out of the car with her lunchbox in hand and headed into her new school.  BUT...after I signed her in, my happy little ray of sunshine turned into a leg clinger with the saddest frown face I've ever seen.  It seriously breaks my heart to see her sad and timid.  I gave her the biggest hug and a last kiss goodbye before I darted for the door...to the next heartbreaking moment of my morning.

I raced to Lynnie's to drop off Ayden for HIS first day of daycare of the school year, before I attempted to get myself to work on time.  I managed to snap this photo before he started wailing.

I'm really hoping this doesn't last.  I might have to quit if these two don't get it together...my heart won't be able to handle this for long.

UPDATE:  Allie is doing very well at school...although she like to give me a hard time when I drop her off in the morning.  She sometime will cling to my leg and give me those sad puppy dog eyes...just to pull on my heart strings a bit.  Allie LOVES her teacher, Ms. Sue!  We're looking forward to a great year with her!  She is kind, loving and swears that Allie has a great day (everyday).  Thanks, Ms. Sue!

Summer Semester

I would like to say that this is the saddest day of the summer (the day before I officially report for work)...but that day happened about three weeks ago when I went into school to unpack my new classroom and set up my room for the start of a new school year in a brand new building...and I've been there every day ever since (sad face).  I have major mom guilt with lots of anxiety about teaching third grade...along with being TOTALLY overwhelmed from all the things I've been making and getting ready for open house and the first day of school.  I can't help but feel extremely SAD that this summer is long gone and the next summer I'll have with my baby boy, Ayden...he won't be my BABY anymore.

This summer has been quite busy with my two little friends...making my most cherished time with my kiddos speed by even faster than what feels like the speed of light. We've had tons of play dates, went to stroller fitness class on and off, completed Etsy orders, cooked together, took walks together, and spent lots and lots of days (and sometimes nights) together.  The mommy in me needs to reflect on my very last BABY summer...and the teacher in me decided to give my little rays of sunshines a report card...for the summer semester.  I'm proud to report that BOTH my littles passed with flying colors.

AYDEN HAMMERICK:
Ayden is sweet and snuggly.  He is a joy to be around and I look forward to all the love I get from him every day.  Ayden has been on the move. He perfected his crawl, is cruising around furniture, and has recently taken 4 steps on his own. Ayden knows how to say Mama, Dada, and Uh-oh.  Ayden grew one whole tooth and is expecting lots more any day now.  He has completely forgotten how to take a bottle and has been using the food on his tray to practice his pitch.  Ayden can feed himself with a spoon now, but is working on eating neatly. Ayden is secure at turning pages in his books when being read to.  Mama, Dada and Uh-oh are Ayden's favorite words.

ALLIE HAMMERICK:
Allie is energetic, outgoing and soooo very fun!  I appreciate her willingness to help her brother and play with him often.  She is a positive role model and a wonderful helper.  Allie has perfected riding her bike with training wheels and continues to work on her jump roping skills.  She has made a couple new friends this summer and has become more confident in herself.  I'm so proud of how brave Allie was when she attended summer camp at her new preschool.  Allie takes pride in her appearance and can dress herself.  Allie is now comfortable with jumping into the pool on her own and going under water (most of the time).

Back to School Breakfast 2014

I knew this day would creep up on me when I least expected it.  The day my Allie girl ventures off to SCHOOL!  This summer when by WAY TOO FAST and I can't believe school is right around the corner.  Being the teacher that I am...I know exactly what to expect on Allie's first day.  Being the mom that I am...I have absolutely no idea how my heart will handle the moment I drop off my little preschooler.  In the long run, she will be fine.  She will make new friends, love her teachers, and learn so much this year.  I just still can't believe she is going to SCHOOL!

She, for the most part, is excited and happy to be going to school...and I only thought it would be fitting to celebrate and get her a little bit more excited for the big day that lies ahead this week.

BACK TO SCHOOL BREAKFAST was complete with books, treats, presents and yummy breakfast.  Todd and I got Allie a Leap Frog video about going to school.  She watched while munching on her doughnuts and apple juice.  Allie LOVED her new silver sparkly shoes that she's hoping she will grow into soon than later.  We read the Kissing Hand (one of my favorites) and Allie LOVED the 'kisses."  I eventually had to take them away so she didn't eat the whole bucket.

Ayden is 11 Months

Ayden is on the move!  He is cruising around the furniture and standing on his own for a few seconds at a time.  He learned how to push his walker and will walk around the house holding hands with Todd or I...and sometimes Allie.  Ayden learned how to "high-five" and wave bye.  He also likes to shake his head "no."  Ayden's favorite foods this month are watermelon, grapes, banana, rice, grilled cheese, Chex cereal, pasta, Cheerio's with milk, and yogurt.  Ayden likes to read the book Where is Baby's Belly Button and nurse before bed.  Some of Ayden's favorite things to do are playing with his toys, swinging at the park, and playing peek-a-boo.  Ayden has become very snuggly this month and will often lay his head on my shoulder.  He also tries to give sweet, wet, open-mouth kisses.  Ayden is nursing 4 times a day and taking 2 naps.  He goes to bed very well at night and usually wakes around 7:00 am.

Ayden's Cake Smash!

This handsome guy hated his cake smash...just like his big sister did (Allie's Cake Smash). I'm pretty proud of myself for pulling this off. I made the cake, banners and birthday hat (that Ayden HATED wearing, as well). I tried to put on his hat but we think the elastic strap was just too much...so he cried.  After I go him to calm down, Todd sat him next to his cake and he stuck his hand in right away before I could even snap the photo.  I cleaned off his hand, took a quick photo...and then it was go time!  With a look at the cake...he cried, again.  He stopped after a bit and got into it a little.  He put his hand in the frosting and tasted it...and spit it out.  Then cried some more.  He knocked over the cake stand.  Cake turned upside down.  Ayden grabbed the cake board and had a ball banging and beating it on top of the cake.  He gave it a lick.  With a little help from Todd picking up Ayden whenever he started crawling away, and Allie jumping up and down behind me to get Ayden to smile...I ended up with a FEW good pictures for his storyboard. I don't think he minded the frosting, but he definitely didn't love it. Happy soon to be first birthday to my favorite little man.

Pymatuning 2014

We took our annual trip to PA to visit Auntie Ellen and Uncle Joe...and Patches.  Thanks for having us!!!  Allie was looking forward to coming and staying with you guys for a while.  Although our trip got off to a rocky start (issues with getting our rental car, trouble installing our car seats, getting a late start, pulling over 20 minutes after FINALLY getting on the road so Ayden could eat, and TONS and TONS of traffic causing us to be on the road for 2 EXTRA HOURS!) ...we still have fun and some great quality family time.  Here are some highlights from our trip...

The girls took a trip to the Amish store.  Allie liked playing with the handmade Amish toys and swinging on the swings.  She picked out about 12 bags of different kids of gummy candy...we left with ONE (butterfly gummies).

Friday afternoon Auntie took Todd, Allie and I to Lake Pymatuning.  It took a bit to get Allie in the water, but after Auntie took a dip, it was game on.  Thanks Auntie for swimming and playing with Allie at the beach...she just LOVES spending time with you.

Nana and Auntie did come cooking for us, but we did go out for a family dinner.  A quick stop to the feed the CRAZY BIG FISH some bread...they were seriously soooooo gross, but Allie had fun.

What vacation is not complete without ICE CREAM!!!  Blue Moon for Allie...

...and vanilla custard for Ayden.

Our last outing was to the fair.  Deep fried OREO'S, huge inflatable slide, pony rides, and face painting.  Allie was little Ms. Independent and didn't want anyone to walk beside her while on the pony.  She insisted on riding on the smallest Pony (just like her!)

Thanks for having us!  Thanks, Nana for helping out with Ayden (and Allie too)...so I could catch a few Zzzzz that were much needed from being up half the night with Ayden...ALL THREE NIGHTS!  Allie loved ALL the goodies you bought her.  The trampoline was sooooo fun...even I had a blast jumping on it.  We look forward to visiting again next year (and actually going out on the boat!)

Ayden Update: Ayden is back to sleeping all night long...THANKFULLY! It must have been the pack-n-play.
